With all the sun and warmth our berries are ripening faster than normal. We are expecting a shorter season, possibly ending mid-August. If you plan to pick blueberries this year, plan to come soon.
I walked around the fields on Thursday morning and discovered our later varieties coming on for picking.
In the front field, we now have Eberhardts, Dixies, Olympias, Rubels, and Rancocoas available as well as the Pacific, Pembertons, and Concords (rows 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 10). Eberhardt (row 2) and Dixies (3) are tarter and bigger berries than Pacific (1) and Pembertons (4), so have fun comparing the flavors.
In the backfield, plan to pick Pacifics, Olympias, and Rubels, as well as some Dixies.
Still coming in both fields are Jerseys and Stanleys, which should be available for picking next week.
