We're opening today with our early season variety Weymouth. It's an heirloom blueberry from New Jersey, released in 1928. It's a sweet berry, that goes bland when over ripe. If you prefer a tart berry, pick the ones that show some purple still. My husband and I love using these berries in pies and jam; we're even thinking of trying a blueberry barbeque sauce (we'll let you know how that turns out!). Our berries seem bigger this year.
We're looking forward to see you and sharing some of the improvements we have made this year.
