Pick-a-Pound food drive for Hopelink begins today.
If you can pick an extra pound of berries for Hopelink, we'll take them to the foodbank on Monday. We'll also have a donation jar available if you don't have time to pick more berries. The photo shows one of our children's buckets containing a pound of blueberries. With just another 10 minutes of picking, you can help provide fresh fruit to those in need.
Please come support our food drive for Hopelink, a local agency dedicated to helping homeless and low-income people. With your help, we hope to take a number of flats of fresh berries to Hopelink on Monday. Last year, thanks to your help, we donated 50 pounds of berries and $44 cash.
Our picking continues to be excellent, with later varieties such as Eberhardts, Dixies, Stanleys, and Rubels providing lots of berries. These varieties (except Rubels) also produce large berries good for eating. Rubels are an old-fashioned, wild blueberry from New Jersey known to be one of the healthiest berries to eat because it has the most antioxidants of all blueberries.
