My family picked Tuesday as a way to say goodbye to the farm, which we have owned for 20 years. By the pond, we found bushes still covered with berries. Best picking was in the Eberhardts, Dixies, Rubels, Stanleys and Jerseys (rows 2, 3, 6, 8, and 9). But even some early varieties still had berries. We left with two buckets of berries, thanks to my husband and daughters. I walked around tasting the different varieties and marveling how different they can taste.
Sunflowers are gorgeous and plentiful. Build yourself a bouquet at $2.50 for 6, $5.00 for 12. Otherwise they are .50 each.
